D-A Lubricant Company, Inc. has taken a unique approach to the research and
design of this new and exciting product. We have adopted a system approach - a unique
combination of base oils, additive chemistry and polymer - to the engineering of Excelon
EBS and Excelon ST. This system reflects the commitment D-A has to meeting the needs of
our customers, today and in the future.
The Excelon family of long drain products include the feature rich Excelon EBS
(Engineered Base System), a CI-4+ oil for use with low sulphur fuels - Excelon EBS M
(CJ-4) and
our semi-synthetic for cold weather starting - Excelon ST (Synthetic Technology). With the recent changes in
emission requirements and engine designs, it becomes more important that companies use the
most advanced products available. D-A is confident that Excelon EBS, Excelon

What sets a champion apart? Its a passion to excel - driven
by a proven performance edge. In heavy-duty diesel engine oil, a new champion has emerged. Excelon oil from D-A. By any measure, Excelon EBS, Excelon EBS M and Excelon ST deliver a higher level of
performance, so heavy-duty equipment runs longer and more efficiently.
Excelon consists of an Engineered Base System (EBS) which is a result of
D-A’s extensive research into factors controlling engine life and extended service
intervals. Corrosive wear created in the combustion process is “The Engine
Killer” and it will become even more deadly in the future. EBS technology
quickly and effectively neutralizes engine acids to significantly reduce corrosive wear in
the engine. High levels of detergents and dispersants along with a unique TBN design, keep
engines clean and operating at maximum efficiency over the long haul.
EBS technology includes a unique blend of Group I and Group II base oils plus
a shear stable multi-grading agent that promotes lower oil consumption and superior oil
viscosity retention.

EBS Oils Optimize Corrosive Wear Control and Rust Prevention
With Alkaline Detergent Technology
Engine life and productive value depends upon limiting corrosive wear
of piston rings, cylinder liners and crankshaft bearings. EBS’s alkalinity technology
protects your engine investment for longer service life, greater productivity and reduced
maintenance expense.
Alkalinity (TBN) Reserve
Maintaining corrosive wear control is more than a high oil TBN, it
requires spreading the alkalinity through more detergent micelles for faster, longer
lasting acid neutralization capabilities.
Greater Oil Detergency and Contaminant Dispersancy
A clean engine is an efficient engine. EPA mandated emission
regulations have changed engine design which has increased the presence of soot. Extra
dispersancy in Excelon means better soot management for reduced oil thickening, longer
filter life, longer bearing life and the prevention of sludge.
Long Drain Capability
Improved engine durability also promotes greater long drain potential
because they are both tied to maintaining corrosive wear control. EBS is “The
Performance Champion”.
Stable Used Oil Viscosity
The multigrade agent used in Excelon limits viscosity loss due to
polymer shear, thereby assuring continuous lubricant film protection throughout the
service period.
Calcium Detergent System
EBS contains an all-calcium detergent combination that yields improved
cylinder bore polishing control and avoids the water tolerance problems associated with
some magnesium detergents.
Lower Oil Volatility
Lighter, more volatile base oil blends suffer evaporative loss in hot
engine zone leading to higher oil consumption and greater piston deposits. D-A Excelon EBS,
EBS M
& ST utilize only low volatile base oils that are extremely thermally stable.
Strong Resistance to Oxidation, Nitration and Thermal
Degradation
All of the D-A Excelon product line ingredients have been carefully
selected for their resistance to oxidation, nitration and thermal decay; plus usage of
several different oxidation inhibitors boost oil life to almost an unlimited degree.
D-A Excelon ST has all the benefits of the Excelon EBS system (high TBN,
calcium detergents, more detergent micelles, lower oil volatility for less engine wear in
high and low extreme temperatures, reduced oxidation, and especially longer engine life
and longer drain intervals), but is engineered with a Synthetic Technology (a mineral and
synthetic base oil blend) for those fleets needing improved low temperature start-up.
